Ellen Schwartzberg, the first owner, worked for a travel agency which had been in the same location for over 30 years. When the owner retired, Ellen saw an opportunity to change the way the public perceived travel -- the Internet and "those big travel companies" might offer you some good bargains, but they lack very important features - a genuine interest in your travel needs, customer service, follow-through, and that little extra that you won't get anywhere else. As Ellen said "I want to treat you like you would want your own mother treated." This new attitude however, proved too much for Ellen's partner, who was more interested in building the business and forgoing service. Ellen's son, David bought out the partner, enabling "Mom" to focus on some of the best customer service in the business. After a successful roller-coaster of a dotCom career (and layoffs), David decided to use his business and technology skills (and previous corporate travel horror stories) and joined Ellen as an active partner.
